Many factors contribute to weight gain. We want to address three major ones:
Insufficient sleep can set you up to make bad decisions that can affect your weight. It lowers your frontal lobe’s ability to help you control impulses, make good decisions and act on those decisions.
When you’re tired, your brain starts seeking activities that feel good. They are often impulsive decisions like eating sweets or sucking down an energizing latte.
Because your frontal lobe is impaired, your ability to say no to that latte may be impaired, too.
A lack of sleep will also elevate your cortisol levels. The spike signals to your body that it needs to conserve energy instead of burning fat.
A large percentage of insomnia cases are stress-related. Simply put, stress can destroy a healthy sleep pattern.
Stress in itself elevates cortisol levels. When stress leads to sleep deprivation, the sleep deprivation also elevates cortisol. That’s a double whammy that can make you fatter.
Many weight loss formulas contain adaptogenic herbs because they help reduce stress.
We recommend Bacopa Monnieri because it reduces stress and increases concentration, meditation ability, intuition and memory. It can also improve sleep.
These benefits make a great combo that aids sound decisions.
Emotional eating is one of the leading causes of weight gain. It is a coping mechanism that many people use as a reaction to stress and negative emotions.
Emotional eating is usually accompanied by cravings for specific high-fat or high-carb foods.
Our new article highlights two things you can do to destroy this bad habit and manage your stress levels. A solid weight management routine begins with a solid emotion management routine.
Obesity has been on the rise in the USA, the United Kingdom, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and many other parts of the world..
When the millennium began, 30% of American adults were considered obese. Now, it’s more than 42%.
In both the US and Britain, officials are blaming the growth of fast food chains and lower physical activity.
Two other major culprits appear to be stress and emotional distress.
It is common wisdom among researchers that a majority of people who are overweight are emotional eaters.
People who engage in emotional eating typically eat as a response to negative emotions and stress. An emotional eating episode usually begins with a craving for certain foods. These foods tend to be high in fat and/or carbs.
In a 2017 analysis of studies published in Current Psychology, researchers noted that emotional eating was a bigger cause of obesity than having a lot of junk food and fast food in one’s environment. https://www.mcgill.ca/healthpsychologylab/files/healthpsychologylab/frayn-knnuper2017_article_emotionaleatingandweightinadul.pdf
They also found that emotional eaters are less likely to lose weight from traditional weight loss programs and diets. Programs they examined that involved physical activity helped a little bit more. Programs that involved healthy emotion regulation and mindfulness provided the best results.
Do these two things to give those cravings an out-of-the-ballpark one-two-punch.
Adaptogenic herbs increase your ability to manage physical, mental and emotional stress. They support your ability to manage emotions mindfully and to recognize stress and negative emotions in the first place.
Many weight loss supplements include adaptogenic herbs for this very reason.
Siddha Bioscience’s (formerly Nambu Botanicals) Hi-Memory Formula has Bacopa Monnieri - an adaptogen - as its main physical ingredient.
Bacopa decreases stress and increases mindfulness. It also acts as a powerful meditation aid that allows you to go deeper into meditation.
The Siddha Yogis of Tamil Nadu, India have used this herb for ages to activate the Third Eye Chakra and enhance intuition.
Vedic priests in general have used it to memorize chants and long verses from scripture because of Bacopa’s ability to improve certain types of memory and concentration.
Hi-Memory formula is infused with sacred sounds that support the Third Eye. Our sound infusions follow ancient metaphysical Siddha Medicine traditions.
Curcumin is well-known as an adaptogen that improves moods and helps you manage stress. It may also facilitate weight loss directly by interacting with hormones and other chemicals in the body.
Curcumin is the main physical ingredient in Shreem Brzee formula. It is a Turmeric extract standardized to 95% Curcumin and other curcuminoids.
In India, Turmeric is used for physical health, prosperity, protection and a go-getter mindset. It is associated with the Navel Chakra, the seat of personal power and willpower.
Shreem Brzee is a prosperity mantra associated with Lakshmi, the Goddess of Abundance. The formula is infused with this sacred mantra in accordance with ancient Siddha tradition.
A food journal can help you track your eating habits and the emotions you feel before, during and after eating. It allows you to become more conscious of how emotions have taken control of your relationship with food.
In your journal, it may help to take note of how hungry or full you were at different times when you made the decision to eat.
The more aware you are of your habits and what causes them, the better you will become at changing your habits.
You may be familiar with the Shreem Brzee prosperity mantra. If not, it is a mantra intended to dissolve poverty consciousness and to gain wealth-attraction consciousness.
There are many ways to benefit from the mantra. Chanting it is obviously one of them.
There is another way to work with Shreem Brzee so that you are dialing in to exactly what you want to manifest in your life and using the mantra to empower your goal.
Keep reading to learn this 3rd Eye trick that empowers your goals so you can bring them to life.
This is the short version of the instructions:
Dr. Pillai explains step 2:
What you do is you just close your eyes and then look at your 3rd Eye, which is the Pineal Gland. Focus attention there and keep on remembering Shreem Brzee Shreem Brzee Shreem Brzee.
When you are talking to other people: Shreem Brzee Shreem Brzee.
It's boring. How can you do it so that it’s not boring?
It will be boring only for half an hour. After that, it will be bliss. Then, even if you want to stop it, you cannot stop it.
The goal should be that it should be going into your Pineal Gland continuously. When you get to that level, the sky is the limit.
A Yogi said, about when the mantra works: The mind becomes the mantra. The mantra takes over, and then the mind is not there...
If you get to that level, then manifestation happens all the time.
Nambu’s Shreem Brzee is a Turmeric extract that is standardized to contain 99% Curcumin. Curcumin is the main antioxidant responsible for most of Turmeric’s benefits.
We chose Turmeric for this formula not only for its health benefits, but because Turmeric is the herb of Lakshmi, the prosperity Goddess behind the Shreem Brzee mantra.
Shreem Brzee infusion is a major part of the manufacturing process. This helps you infuse your entire body and mind with wealth consciousness.
“Very intuitive indeed ! Associated with the magnificent « Shreem Brzee » yantra, every taking is a blessed ritual and allows one to trûy enter in deep contact with Turmeric and Lakhsmi Goddess.” - Christian N, Verified Buyer
“The Shreem Brzee infused turmeric capsules from Nambu have been perhaps the most impactful thing I've added to my life in the last five years. They have provided a rock solid foundation to my financial consciousness and the always-a-little chaotic entrepreneurial life. I've also experimented by giving one to a friend and see them instantly switch to talking about some vital financial issue. Somehow it seems to provide near-instant effects, in my experience.” - Juhotunkelo, Verified Buyer
“If I just run my life without any goal, then life happens, but that will be a karmic life without any glory to it.” - Dr. Pillai, Founder of Nambu Botanicals
A human’s purpose in life is to learn to live in the NOW eternally.
That’s just the universal purpose of life. Every individual has an individual path they need to take to get there, too.
Your soul has a long-term purpose that may span lifetimes. It also has a purpose for this lifetime and a purpose for RIGHT NOW.
What do you need to do right NOW?
There’s something you need to do that brings you more wisdom and more joy for the long-term. As a soul, you know what that is. If you don’t, your job right now is to find out what it is and do it.
All of these things help align you with your soul so that you know what your purpose is; NOW, this week, this month and this lifetime.
Regular users of Bacopa Monnieri report benefits such as:
Some of these benefits are well-studied in medical science. They include stress reduction, memory and concentration. Others are more subjective.
Today, Bacopa is best-known as the primary nootropic (brain-booster) herb of the southern portions of India.
The Siddha Yogis of Tamil, India have used Bacopa for accessing the soul through the 3rd Eye. Ancient Vedic priests used it for that and for memorizing long prayers and chants.
All of these benefits are helpful for those who intend to align with their individual life purposes.
A calmer mind means you can act on your intuition more easily without succumbing to fear or anxious thoughts.
It also means deeper meditation sessions, which bring more clarity and soul alignment.
A concentrated mind also means deeper meditation. Another benefit of a concentrated mind is the ability to follow your life purpose and implement it efficiently.
Practitioners of Ayurveda and Siddha Medicine infused herbs with special mantras. They believed this added a new dimension of healing potential and unleashed the Divine, which exists in all herbs.
But that was in the past. People rarely do this NOW. The purpose of the founding of Nambu Botanicals was to bring these ancient practices back into the NOW.
Herbs are not mere material structures, just as you are not a mere body. You are much bigger than that. The herbs you use should be seen in the same light.
Pick up that drum stick!
Not the ice cream cone treat but the chicken leg. And not the Colonel’s either, however yummy and comforting. Make it a good baked drum stick that you cook in your own oven. I’m such a food buzz kill!
None of us get enough protein in our diets, especially women.
In order to merely survive and keep your body’s insides functioning, you need approximately 0.37 grams of protein per pound of body weight. For the metric system people, that’s 0.8 grams per kilogram of body weight.
This means a woman weighing 150 pounds, or 68kg, needs approximately 55g of protein.
Consider that the bare minimum. If you want to think clearly, move around, or build up immunity, you need more.
For that, the woman above needs about 85g of protein per day. That’s only a rough estimate. I’m just trying to emphasize the importance of getting enough high-quality protein in your diet.
In fact, this is nowhere near exact. Everyone has a unique rate of metabolism. Any underlying health condition is also going to alter these numbers.
For example, I am a 57-year-old woman of average weight who goes to the gym three times a week (but not at the moment), exercises on non-gym days and gardens with fervor. I also do my best to consume approximately 90g of protein per day.
Protein IS the building block of all the body’s cells, including the ones that power your immune system. The protein you consume breaks down into amino acids. These amino acids become many specialized building blocks for specialized cells.
OMG, you say. That is a heck of a lot of food… Not really.
Here are some examples of protein-rich foods and how much protein they give you:
Food Grams of Protein
3 ounces tuna, salmon, haddock or trout 21g
3 ounces cooked turkey or chicken 19g
6 ounces plain Greek yogurt 17g
½ cup cottage cheese 14g
½ cup cooked beans 8g
1 cup of milk 8g
1 cup cooked basmati rice 6g
¼ cup or 1 ounce of nuts (all types) 7g
1 egg 6g
Yeah, I know. I kind of mixed my methods of measuring, but you get my point.
Protein powders come in really handy. I have some days when I just don’t want to eat much, but…
Instead of sacrificing my nutrient profile for the day, I mix up a smoothie with protein powder or just take the protein powder without a smoothie.
My personal protein of choice is whey. I switched from plant-based stuff as I found I was having trouble digesting the pea, rice and hemp proteins.
I was paranoid at first, thinking I couldn’t do the whey because I stay away from dairy most of the time. I guess you could say that I “limit” dairy because it usually contributes to inflammation.
Seek out a powder that is made from “whey isolate.” This means that most of the carbs and fats have been removed, leaving primarily protein content. Even most lactose intolerant people find that they can tolerate whey protein.
I do, and I notice a big difference in my mood, as protein is also a building block for feel-good hormones that help to stave off depression. Can you say “social distancing?”
Now back to the inflammation from dairy products that I mentioned above.
Normal inflammation is a good thing. In fact, it is the body’s natural response to stimuli.
Oh the memories of putting a candle out with my fingers! The red, warm and puffy reaction. This is good inflammation.
These response symptoms are signs that my body sprang into action to heal my fingers.
Some inflammatory responses are inappropriate or last too long. This gives rise to nasty conditions like diabetes, cardiovascular disease, inflammatory bowel disease, autoimmune disorders, depression, and the list goes on.
This, my friends, is why my personal choice is to avoid all pro-inflammatory food.
Luckily we all have access to a really good turmeric/curcumin supplement from Nambu Botanicals. It’s called Shreem Brzee.
Like I said in another recent nutrition rant, ingesting turmeric spice by itself is helpful. However, it just does not give the same degree of health benefits as standardized curcumin. This is because standardized turmeric extracts are made almost entirely of curcumin and other antioxidants called curcuminoids. The bioavailability of these antioxidants is low. This means your body only absorbs and uses a small percentage.
What also makes Nambu’s Shreem Brzee stand out is that they’re old school. Nambu Botanicals follows the old Ayurveda and Siddha Medicine traditions of infusing herbs with special mantras.
Shreem Brzee is a prosperity mantra associated with a special form of Goddess Lakshmi. The mantra is good for meditation, but it is also good for dissolving poverty consciousness and replacing it with the consciousness that attracts wealth.
Nambu infuses the herb with the mantra. Then the herb and the mantra infuse YOU.
Thus endeth today’s rant,
Hope you found this at least a little helpful in these oh-so-strange-times,
Do your best.
Keep safe and healthy everyone.

In uncertain times, it’s especially important to remain grounded and centered. When we’re dealing with a constant fight or flight stress response, our immune systems suffer. So do our decision-making skills, relationships, and other matters in life.
Consistently deep breathing helps us with all these things and helps prevent illnesses. It is one of the most important things you can do for your immune system. It doesn’t take much of your time. In fact, you can overlap deep breathing with other activities, like dishwashing.
Benefits of deep breathing for the immune system:
Do this exercise as often as you can remember to. This will form a habit that you will thank yourself for in the long run.
For even deeper breathing, you can add another step after #2: After your balloon fills up, allow your chest to expand like a balloon. While exhaling, deflate your chest first and then your belly.
If controlled breathing is a new habit you’re trying to establish, you may need to get used to the extra oxygen. You will get used to it quickly.
Put down the brownie!
Seriously…they are so, so yummy. However, the sugar and the processed junk in them - including the flour and processed sugar in your homemade brownies - will weaken your immune system.
Store-bought brownies are even worse! Yuck!
I know that comfort foods are usually junk foods, and who doesn’t crave some comfort right now?
You NEED a strong immune system.
This is always the case, but it’s more important now than ever before.
Sweets like brownies spike your blood sugar level. This creates an environment that viruses and other harmful microbes absolutely love. They thrive in these conditions.
They also decrease the immune response.
The immune system cells attack viruses and bacteria. That’s their game. They hate increased sugar levels. When you down a couple of sugary drinks, or a brownie, they get benched for at least a few hours.
The Killer Combo: Malnourishment & Obesity
If you keep filling your belly with more sugar and processed junk, you will become malnourished. Malnourishment isn’t just for the starving and underweight (God Bless Them). Many overweight people are deficient in essential nutrients too.
In fact, in a world full of processed foods and refined sugars, obesity and malnutrition go hand-in-hand.
Nutrients like vitamin A, vitamin C and zinc are crucial for a strong and healthy immune system. You can get all of them through supplements or food.
In my humble opinion as a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, it is more effective to use food as your medicine and get the required nutrients from your food.
Good food sources of vitamin A are animal proteins, liver, eggs and fish. If meats aren’t your thing, you can get plenty of vitamin A in orange sweet potatoes, squash, carrots, spinach, kale, dried apricots, melon, spring greens, and more. Google it!
Vitamin C is an essential fuel for your immune system. Humans actually used to manufacture megadoses of it in their bodies, especially if their health was under attack. Most plants and animals still do this. Exceptions include bats, guinea pigs, and domestic dogs and cats. Some researchers speculate that this could be the reason so many wild animals don’t suffer from many diseases like people do.
Foods that give you vitamin C are:
You need about 8-10 servings of vitamin C per day. This loosely translates to 4-5 PACKED cups of fruits and vegetables.
Zinc is most plentiful in oysters. Personally, yuck (again).
Oysters are not in every grocery store, especially now.
Luckily, zinc is also available in meats, shellfish, nuts, seeds, eggs and…
drum roll please…
I don’t mean candy bars. Those aren’t even real chocolate. I mean bitter, real, dark chocolate with no added flavors or added sugars. If you get your hands on real chocolate, limit yourself to one section per day.
Dark chocolate also has magnesium in it. Magnesium is good for the nervous system, and it helps keep you regular if you know what I mean.
The weird times we’re in provide a great opportunity to cook at home and eat well. Don’t forget to add herbs and spices to make things interesting.
Some good spices to fight viruses and help your immune system are:
Flavoring your food with antiviral spices is a win-win!
Turmeric contains antioxidants called curcuminoids. The most well-known curcuminoid is called curcumin. They neutralize free radicals that cause aging and that make you more vulnerable to illnesses. Curcuminoids help your immune system in other ways, too.
When I said it’s best to get your nutrients from food sources, I was overgeneralizing.
The turmeric on your spice rack contains curcuminoids, but you never know how much you’re going to get from it. It’s just not standardized for these antioxidants.
If you want to be sure of how much of these compounds you’re getting, then you need a supplement that is standardized for curcumin and the other curcuminoids.
Shreem Brzee Turmeric is an organic supplement made by Nambu Botanicals. It is a turmeric extract that is standardized to contain 95% curcuminoids. It retains the essence of turmeric in concentrated form. You can be sure you’re getting a higher dose of these powerful antioxidants than you normally would if you picked up some ground turmeric at the store and threw it in a stew or a curry.
Tip: The best way to maximize your curcuminoid intake is to take Shreem Brzee Turmeric with a food that contains fat. This will multiply the curcuminoids your body absorbs and uses to keep you healthy.
In accordance with ancient Ayurveda and Siddha Medicine tradition, Nambu Botanicals infuses Shreem Brzee Turmeric with sacred sounds. This turmeric extract is infused with the prosperity mantra, Shreem Brzee. Lakshmi is the Goddess behind both turmeric and the Shreem Brzee mantra. Lakshmi is said to dissolve poverty consciousness and help us attract abundance.
This is why Dr. Pillai founded Nambu Botanicals. He wanted to revive this lost art that used to be so integral to Siddha Medicine.
That’s it for now. I’ll be back with more tips on how not only to survive - but thrive - during social- distancing.
Keep safe and healthy, everyone!

The Vedic and Tamil lunar astrological calendars divide each lunar month into 30 parts, called tithis. There are 15 tithis from the New Moon to the Full Moon and vice versa.
The 11th Moon, which is just a few days before the New Moon or Full Moon, is a wealth powertime called Ekadasi. Today is an 11th Moon day.
11th Moons are ruled by Vishnu, who is the archetype of wealth and of the preservation of ancient wisdom. It is said this is the day when the Moon heightens our ability to concentrate, which is why people fast on 11th Moons while connecting with Vishnu through meditation.

The Guru’s Birthday is the greatest day of the year to receive his blessings. The Guru can give you miracles to resolve any problem or bring you any blessing.
Nambu Botanicals founder Dr. Pillai’s 70th birthday on February 1st will be especially powerful this year because he is embodying the energy of Dattatreya, which includes Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma.
Blessings are experienced as positive changes in your life. The positive changes you receive from a Guru's blessings are usually in an area where you need the most help -- a financial surprise, a breakthrough in a complicated relationship, or healing from a health problem are all areas where miracles can be manifested with the Guru's grace.
Dr. Pillai is a Siddha master and expert in the ancient process of energizing herbs with sound, as practiced by yogis and mystics according to closely-guarded Siddha tradition for decades. Dr. Pillai founded Nambu Botanicals in order to share of sound-infused herbs with humanity.

Swami Ramalingam was embodied as a 19th Century Siddha poet and Saint in Tamil Nadu, India. When British scientists came to visit him, he astonished them by turning his body into light.
One of his secrets was the herb, Eclipta Alba, also known as Bhringaraj. It’s the main ingredient in Nambu’s Enlightenment Formula. For the two years leading up to the moment he first turned his body into light, Swami Ramalingam regularly took Eclipta Alba, water and one grain of rice.
Instead of founding a religion, the Saint preferred to embrace the essence of all religions and teach others how to experience it. He called it the Universal Path. At the center of this path is the Grace Light, which is your true nature. You experience it when your Soul realizes itself.

Swami Ramalingam’s Grace Light Mantra
Pronunciation: AH-rool PAY-room JOH-tee, tah-NEE PAY-room kay-roo-NAY
To be even more accurate, think of the ‘l’ in Arul as a soft t. It’s the lazy t sound when your tongue’s tip doesn’t rise up to touch your front teeth.
This mantra melts unwanted karma and brings the realization of your true nature, which is light, omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence, deathlessness, and infinite compassion.
Ascension Day Celebrates Awakening
The Swami first turned his body into light on Thai Poosam, a powertime that occurs during the Full Moon during the Tamil month of Thai, when the Moon is in the Pushya star according to Vedic Astrology. Pushya is the star of wealth and earthly delights.
The powertime is on January 20th this year.
Thai Poosam celebrates the time Goddess Parvati gifted Muruga with his mighty weapon, the Vel, which is a special sword. Muruga was born out of the 3rd Eye of Shiva, Parvati’s husband and the archetype of karma removal.
Muruga represents the awakening of the brain and 3rd Eye, and the resulting spiritual intelligence conquers all types of karma and internal enemies. The Vel symbolizes this all-powerful intelligence.
Enlightenment Formula Aids Awareness of the Grace Light
Eclipta Alba has been used for thousands of years as a meditation aid because it increases the exact type of concentration required for meditation. It also makes people more sensitive to the etheric reality, which can bring the realization that we are light.
